Well, it would seem that February vacation is drawing to a close. How very sad indeed...

The guinea pigs are just *too cute for words* sometimes. They have a little cardboard box house, and sometimes, Dixie will go into it, and just wander around the cage, dragging the box like a turtle drags a shell. It's very funny and very cute... And sometimes Jewel will try to walk into the house when Dixie is dragging it around, and then she gets a little angry. Still, they don't seem to fight, so I think all's well in the end.

On a completely unrelated note, a friend from drama told me about a manga called Skip Beat! which I had heard of before, but strayed away from because it looked a bit *too* girly. In the end, though, I got very absorbed reading it, and ended up reading all of it that's out so far... I suppose that's where my vacation disappeared to. ^.^; Unfortunately, now I have to wait for (1) the people on the internet to upload more of it or (2) the English translation to catch up with the internet. Unfortunately, the latter will take FOREVER, so I'll have to hope for option number one. Baahaha, I'm such a geek.

Although, lately, I can't look at anything Japan-related without thinking, "I really want to learn the language!" I'm so miserably bad at teaching myself languages, though. I wouldn't know where to start. I suppose that first you've got to learn grammar structure, and you learn vocabulary along the way, right? But then, in the intro to Japanese course I once took, we just seemed to start learning phrases and stuff. (I should've paid more attention in that course. ;__;) Before I worry about that, though, I need to just learn the alphabet. きゃああああ!わたしわおたくです!! (Kanji would probably be helpful too, huh?)

It's not my family, in your head, in your head, they are fighting...
- "Zombie" by the Cranberries

That quote has nothing to do with this post but I really like that song. For anyone who's heard that song and the song "Sing" by the Dresdon Dolls, I ask you this: Is it just me, or does the very beginning of the two songs sound similar?

Anyway... Today in Latin, Mr. H told us about Emperor Nero and his mother. o.O; My question is, if Emperor Nero made a giant statue of himself as sun god Apollo, and he wasn't smited, then why would they put any stock into their religion? But, then again, isn't it that they didn't really believe their myths at all (so did they not believe their own religion)? Whatever, I'm so vague on the topic of ancient Rome these days. I haven't studied it in a good number of years. Moving on...

Last weekend, we got the new guinea pig called Dixie. She seems to be doing just fine, and she definitely has made Jewel more friendly. He was always an anti-social guinea pig, but since she showed up, he's been all bouncy and social and he lets you pet him and he squeaks a lot. It almost sounds like a sitcom, his life, or maybe a Hollywood movie. I mean, switch out "guinea pig" for "person" and "guinea pig cage" for "apartment" and it's perfect. Can't you imagine it? The movie trailer'd say some cheesy thing about Jewel never having been social, and then there'd be some sound clip of him telling someone something about how Caramel died, and then the narrator of the movie trailer would say "But then along came Dixie." Then inspirational music would play and there'd be a montage and a bunch of clips of them talking and stuff. Hm... Change the names, write up a script, and I could be a famous movie director in no time!

Maybe not, but oh well.

And!! Britt got the manga of Spiral!! I've been wanting to read this since I saw the anime two years ago! YAYAYAYAYAY!

Sooo, today I had the weirdest nightmare. Well, not today, but last night. There was some weird invasion, and we were trying to fight these people off, but the problem was, all the groups fighting couldn't agree on the methods, and at one point, someone said, "Wow, when we started fighting, we never expected it to be this bad or to go on for so long." And even in my dream, I was like, war in Iraq much? I hate when my dreams are political.

Onii-chan suggested that we all take the 2 o'clock bus up to the mall, so we all (me and all my siblings) walked down to the bus station. Actually, we sorta ran, because we were worried about missing the bus. We got there in plenty of time... and then waited for about half an hour. The bus never showed up. This is the second time in one week that public transit has failed me. RAWR!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH AMERICAN PUBLIC TRANSIT?!? Anyway, we got driven up, and after stopping at the video game store, headed right over to Barnes and Noble.

I feel kind of bad, because we always go to Barnes and Noble, read about ten books among us, and then buy about one book, for all four of us. Really not very profitable for the store, but, they set out chairs for people to sit and read in, and we aren't the only ones, soooo... :P Anyhow, for a while they were playing really shmaltzy, horrible Christmas music, the kind which makes you wish Jesus had never been born. After that CD (it must've been a CD because it was the same singer in every song and there were no ads) ended, though, they put on a Christmas CD of the TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA!! That's, like, ultra win right there. Christmas time (if you can even call this Christmas time yet) may be the time of year they play the most terrible songs ever, but it's also the only time of year you're going to get rocking metal guitar solos in Barnes and Noble. Not to mention the singer in that band has a spiffy voice. The lyrics were so contrary to the other Christmas stuff. It was WAY more traditional and... well, less lame. :P

While there I read two and a half volumes of Imadoki. I think Yuu Watase ran out of ideas in that manga... It basically has all the same plot as all of her other stuff, only with less beating around the bush. And her other stuff didn't really have much beating around the bush. Not to mention the main male character looks exactly like all her other main male characters. Compare:
Koki, the heart-throb of Imadoki, and Kyo, the love interest of Alice 19th. Not only do they look identical, but they have pretty similar personalities. Of course, I shouldn't be complaining, seeing as I read (or am reading) both manga anyway, but still...
