School work is very stressful lately, and I'm not looking forward to going back, but I must. *le sigh* One day at a time! And I can get myself to the next vacation.

I saw Twilight today. It wasn't completely bad, but the special effects sucked, and the acting was really rather bad. Still, some bits made me laugh really hard. Eddy definitely came off as more stalkerific, and Bell-Bells was somehow much more whiny in the movie. Nonetheless, their lines made me laugh. Most memorably, "You're like my own personal brand... of heroin." OH THE ROMANCE OF IT ALL

In conclusion, if any of the people on my friendslist haven't seen it, take a look at this video my sibling did!

SamBakZa's videos are usually very happy. The first three were all very lighthearted and cute.

And then I saw the last one, "Paradise," and it was possibly the most depressing thing ever. The final installment had better be good. This one was not what I was expecting and it made me very very sad. ): I hate that the creator up and decided to make it depressing. It was very unnecessary. Also, ):

That is all.

School goes on as ever. My homework is slowly whittling away at the amount of time I sleep. I need to get to bed earlier. A while ago I dreamt that I was in school and that I fell asleep. If you dream about falling asleep, that can't be a good sign.

We talked about Freud today in English. I really can't stand his theories. I mean, I guess the whole ego/superego/id thing isn't so bad — I mean, I'm kinda ambivalent about it — but then you get stuff like infantile sexuality and Oedipal complexes and penis envy and all I can do is shake my head. You're so full of crap, Freud!

History and Latin are still good. Apparently, I'm getting a 91 or a 92 in biology right now, which is good, but I'm not joking when I say I think I might've flunked the last test. I got nervous and didn't know the stuff well and I think I did terribly. ):

Also, a few days ago, I was doing work on Wikipedia, and I finally found an example of "Wikipedia is not perfect." This is the first time I've seen any there.

I don't even know what the editor was trying to say there. I feel like they are from YouTube, though. That is certainly the impression that I get. Which, by the by, is a good song.

So, I suddenly remembered today that iTunes has a radio on it. It connects to sites on the web which stream radio stations, I guess? At any rate, there's a wide selection of random weird stuff, so I thought I'd look for some Finnish station and see if I could find any good new metal. While I couldn't find any Finnish stations on my initial search, I did find this one station which was playing an AWESOME song (or it sounded awesome from the small amount of it I heard.

It was "Baby Girl, I'm A Blur," by Say Anything. And it was noisy. But a good noisy, I'd say. While I'm pimping random songs, "Paper Planes" by MIA is pretty darn spiffy too, but that's already a very popular song, while I'm not sure if the song by Say Anything is popular or not.

But anyhow, I feel like internet radio is going to be entertaining me for the next week or month or so. Also! I think I want to try knitting. I figure I might as well start now because some day I want to make some of those awesome knitted socks which could work as shoes practically. [info]jmeadows knows what I mean. (Possibly.)

Who else has seen this? (If you haven't, google and watch it! You have until midnight before you have to pay for it!)

It's really a very good mini-musical. It amused me.

Yesterday, my big sister and I were hanging out with Brit, and in our boredom, we decided to give learning the Hare Hare Yukai dance a go. What did we discover? That dance is actually really hard. There's really a lot of complicated arm flailing. At some points, we wondered if it was even humanly possible, but hey, if celebrities can do it, and if college students can do it, then we should be able to as well! ...if we ever decide to practice it again. (Note: the college students don't dance the Hare Hare Yukai until 2:40.) We were considering learning the Lucky Star dance, because it's so much more simple, but it's also a little bit bizarre, requires pom-poms, and is better with more people. (Besides, it's not proven to be humanly possible. However, zombies can do it with ease. Of course, Michael Jackson proved zombies could dance years ago.

Also, in the tradition of finding weird videos on YouTube late at night, we discovered that it is possible for a man to play the Song of Time on a carrot? Of course, Angel's We Have Heard On High played on a "big size" broccoli was also rather amazing.

I think that's all the bizarre YouTube stuff I'll subject people to for today. Also, I made a recording of myself singing Country Roads, mainly because I put in a silly little gimmick of changing languages in the middle, but the actually quality of the singing is really bad, and I changed keys by accident at least twice. Maybe I'll post it later. Or better, re-record it. That's all for the time being.

Oh, in case this post is tl;dr, I'll sum it all up in one sentence: I'm a really big geek! :D

I've decided that in the world today, there is no way to be as majestic as you could've been in the world before the WWI and WWII. The world was just more majestic back then. Okay, maybe not really, but I think cars make things less cool. I don't really like cars. I like the Voltswagon Beetle I guess. Did you know it took me forever to realize that the actual word "beetle" wasn't spelled "beatle"? I found out how to spell the band's name before the actual creature. When I was a little kid I didn't realize it was a pun.

When I update my LJ early in the morning, I ramble. Usually I don't even wake up until this time (during the summer, that is), but since my family is going on a really long biking trip in August, my dad is getting us in shape by having us get up early and go on bike rides. We went on a ten mile one the other day, and did eight miles this morning. Still, we're aiming to do 60 miles a day on the actual trip. We managed that much when we biked to Canada, but that was two years ago. (I'm also not very interesting this early in the morning.)

I was reading through Kate Beaton's webcomics the other day, and you know? I want to be a history geek when I grow up too.

Finally, found via xkcd:

Something I have noticed about my LJ: Whenever I say I'm going to write about something "later," the designated "later" is never. Ever. At all. So, if I say I'll write about something later, it means you shall never hear of it again.

That being said, I'm going to postpone writing about the Walk for Hunger until later again. This is actually silly on my part, because I don't really have much of anything else to write about. But words aren't weaving together properly right now, so right now isn't a "write now!" type of time. Hmmm... I hear the Smiths in the back of my mind. When you say it's gonna happen now, when exactly do you mean? See I've already waited too long, and now my hope is gone. I like that song, though it's really depressing, and I'm in a fairly good mood right now. There's interesting string music in the room next to me.

So, for English class, our teacher told us, "Write a rap for Romeo and Juliet. You can have a beat in the background and everything, but somehow, convey to me Romeo and Juliet through a rap." Someone asked if we could re-write a pre-existing song instead of writing a rap, and she said we could, thank goodness. I suggested to my group that we re-write Bohemian Rhapsody, and while at first I thought it might not work out, we ended up managing to condense the significant parts of the play into the song (and by the significant parts of the play, I mean everything that happens after Tybalt's death). It's kinda dorky in the extreme, as these projects tend to be, and I can't see myself actually being able to sing it without breaking down and laughing, but it was fun to write. For the lulz?

In other news, people who look at the book Twilight as some sort of amazingly romantic and unique story need to read more books. Like, in general. Any book will do.

Nabbed from [info]misskalloway, who, coincidentally, was the first person I added to my friendlist, other than family members.

Onto the memery!

Why did you pick that username? The reason behind it is silly... but I made up the name when I was not quite a teenager yet, so I was silly. If you break down the syllables, "shi" means "death," "ku" means "suffering" and "chi" means "blood" in Japanese, loosely translated. I was immensely amused that such sinister syllables, when combined, could make something that sounded so cute, so I used it as an online name. Funnily enough, "kuchi" means "mouth" so my username could also be translated as "Death Mouth," which I think would be an excellent name for a metal band.

Why did your parents name you [your name]? The reason behind it is AWESOME! For one, I was a very calm quiet baby, and a name which meant "serene" fit. Still, the AWESOME reason is this: When my mother was a teen (or perhaps was in college) she watched the original Battlestar Gallactica, and apparently, in one episode, there featured a very pretty character called Serena. The name, and the fact that it was associated with a pretty character, stuck with my mother. That's not exactly the reason I got the name, but I think it's great anyway.

Why is your journal titled [its title]? Actually, I never put toooo much thought into the title of my journal because I trusted that I'd think up a good reason for the title later. I went through a few titles like that... I think I like this one though. "The Artisan Sees," because I am an artist (but artisan is a better word) and these are my insights of sorts.

Why is your friends page titled [its title]? This one is obvious. I call my friends page "Accomplices," because that's a sort of amusingly villainous way to refer to friends. No offense intended.

What's the reasoning behind your default user icon? First it was a picture of Hyde, just because I liked the picture, and I left it with that one because I was too used to it to change it. Now it is Nausicaä because I love that story and character.

Made by the same guy who made the web 2.0 "The Machine is Us/ing Us" video.

Some of the information (actually, most of information) on here is very sad. Some of it applies to me, like the average of seven hours of sleep nightly. I think I really spend too much time on the computer. These days it's more art stuff than internet stuff, but still. I used to sped time outside a lot more. Most of my friends aren't really interested in doing things outdoors. Still, I could go outside myself.

I don't watch much TV. The only TV show that I watch on the air is the Simpsons, but I watch DVDs of stuff with friends, and with Netflix I see a lot of movies, so I can't say I don't spend a lot of time in front of the television. I don't have a cell phone, though.

What worried me the most was the part in the video where the girl holds up a sign saying "I will read 8 books this year, and (some thousand) webpages." That probably could've been me. I used to read a lot of books. I remember when I was reading Anne McCaffery's novels, I never wanted to put them down. That was three years ago. This summer, I read four books for English class, one book for History, and one book for fun. That's probably the most reading I've done in a long time. I need to read more. I don't want my... well, my intellect in general to slip. So, I want to do something. I want to, and I will.

On another note, as I was copying the URL of that video and going to livejournal to post it, I just suddenly thought, "Wow. This is the ever-so-famous thing everyone talks about, a piece of information being shared by one person to another through the internet. This is how a message is really able to be broadcast." Isn't it amazing that we live in an age where anyone can spread word about something with ease?
