Today was Build-A-Cake Day! My sister and I made a chocolate cake, from scratch! The only thing that wasn't so awesome about it was that it was a bit dry. Still! Chocolate cake! From scratch! I bought the icing, though, and then I dyed some of it and used it to make a picture. See?

So, muscling through East of Eden is difficult, mostly because my brain seems convinced I have plenty of time to do it. I'd definitely finish it if I only had two days left, but I need to finish *other* things too. That's what's so staggeringly frustrating about the way my brain works. It seems convinced to avoid looking at (relatively) dire situations as dire.

Still, I'll press on. And finish that book, most definitely! And the work! Raaah!
